An original and eccentric comedy-drama based on Lord Dunsanay’s novel, My Talks with Dean Spanley. This majority New Zealand/UK coproduction made this story about fathers and sons and canine reincarnation even more original and distinctive. I fell in love with the pitch, the subsequent script and the imaginative concept of humans having possibly been dogs in a previous life. The film starred Sam Neill, Bryan Brown, Jeremy Northam and Peter O’Toole in one of his last roles. The film premiered at a red gala special screening at the Toronto Film Festival and then the London Film Festival.
