This poignant, original feature film, written by the talented UK screenwriter Morwenna Banks and starring Toni Colette and Drew Barrymore, made me laugh out loud and cry too loudly, when I first read it as Head of Acquisition and Development at New Sparta Films. The story of a terminal illness, crafted sensitively with much life-affirming humour, was directed by US Director Catherine Hardwicke of Twilight fame, and spoke to many. I collaborated with the team on the script’s creative development and execution, throughout the production and post-production process. Christopher Simon, the producer, had brought together a truly talented, dedicated team, with many highlights, including a Paloma Faith and Diane Warren original track. The film premiered at the Toronto Film Festival.
