Academy Award Longlisted – 2026 – Best live action short film
Alexander Molochnikov is a Russian Theatre and Film Director living in New York. I met him in London and was invited to view a rough cut of the film – running at 28 minutes long – and subsequently continued to work with Alexander with creative notes in the cutting room to bring the film down to a more attractive festival length of 16 minutes.
The process worked and the short film went on to win awards at many festivals, with one highlight being the addition of Ben Stiller and John Lescher as Executive Producers on the Academy Awards campaign trail and long-listing. The film is distributed by the New Yorker.
